Mica Hough, MA LPC Owner Honey Creek Counseling / Licensed Professional Counselor – Wauwatosa

Hi, I’m Mica. I opened Honey Creek Counseling in 2020 when I decided to pursue owning a practice where I could truly focus on providing quality, individualized care to my clients. I have spent the last six years cultivating and growing the practice to include an amazing team of clinicians I fully believe are making a difference in our field.

I specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of multiple issues including:

  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Attention deficit disorder (ADHD)
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Hoarding
  • Specific Phobias
  • Tourette’s and Tic Disorders

I received my master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Cardinal Stritch University and am  a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I have over 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults through the outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, and residential levels of care. This includes 5 years of experience implementing in-home behavioral health programs for children with autism and 5 years working for Rogers Behavioral Health providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for the treatment of anxiety disorders and obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders.

I utilize evidence-based therapeutic tools to provide the most effective treatment based on client’s individual needs, including age, presenting symptoms, and diagnoses. I always consider both the child and parent/guardian as important members of the therapy team and collaborate with the whole team to establish individualized strength-based treatment goals.

When working with young children, I focus on behavioral modification and play therapy. For older children, adolescents, and adults we work from a CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) lens in which the therapist and client explore the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in order to examine how they influence current states (depressed, anxious, etc.). The therapist and client can then work to create new connections by examining and changing how they evaluate situations and react.

I am not currently accepting new clients as I am dedicating my efforts to program support and administrative leadership in Honey Creek Counseling’s continued growth.
